I would always recommend you and your puppy attend puppy classes but sometimes a puppy may not suited to the class environment or your own situation enables you to attend formal classes. In these cases Yes! Good Puppy offers one to one help with your puppy aged between 12-24 weeks in the comfort of your home with the following puppy issues:
- Toilet training
- Separation anxiety/and the prevention of the development of separation issues in the adult dog
- Jumping up
- The basic obedience commands for a controlled polite pup and early lead work
- Importance of and how to socialise your pup so it develops into a calm, confident adult dog
- Puppy aggression
- Bringing your pup home to other animals, children or babies
- Confidence building for the fearful pup
- Impulse control training – ‘the dogs choice’
- Any other issue that you wish to be addressed
When your pup arrives home and up to the age of six months you may find you experience a variety of issues along the way, these are best addressed now to prevent problems in the future. Early socialisation with people is crucial but this has to be done safely even before your pup’s 12 week inoculations. From 12 weeks old your pup requires continued socialisation with people, other dogs and environmental experiences. I can offer advice and training with your pup and invaluable pointers in how to ensure your pup has positive experiences over this critical period and beyond.
At around 5-6 months possibly your once confident pup may start to show fearful behaviours to people or situations or can suddenly seem to forget all your early training work on obedience and recall and seemingly appears to have gone ‘deaf’ . This is an important stage of their behaviour training and requires extra work now to shape your future adult dog.
“We adopted a staffie cross puppy from a sanctuary a few weeks ago, and he came with a few issues. We were looking for a trainer and came across Mandy, I rang her and explained the issues, Mandy came to the house and did an assessment and we worked on a training package, with Mandy’s help he has come on leaps and bounds. He is so much more confident and so are we (lol). His training is on going but we know that if we have any questions or need any advice Mandy is only a phone call away. I cannot recommend Mandy enough, she’s an amazing lady with wonderful skills” Sue and Pete – Henley in Arden
