Our Hero Ethics Pledge

  • Do no harm. This is the ethical principle that guides medical professionals and is also the Yes! Good Dog Community hub Hero’s underpinning principle.
  • We advocate positive reward-based training and handling techniques, with an understanding of a dog’s natural behaviour to educate owners.
  • We oppose the use of harsh equipment and techniques which elicit fear to dogs and any other animal, such as shock collars, prong and choke collars and noise educing equipment to stop a said behaviour recurring.
  • We shall conduct ourselves professionally, honestly and with compassion to perform services within the guidelines of this code.
  • We will continue personal development with new advances in the field of our specialist canine service to provide the most effective ways and kind ways to best serve our clients.
  • We only advocate and use training methods that:  a) Positively reinforce and elicit desired behaviours b)Inhibit or discourage unwanted or potentially dangerous behaviours using force free methodology
  • We will endeavour to consider the psychological and physical wellbeing of the client and their dog(s) and promote responsible caring ownership
  • We may in general guaranteed satisfaction with services but effective outcomes and results are dependent on the having the full commitment and compliance of the client so we can work together to achieve desired outcomes.
  • We shall determine and recognise our own professional abilities and limits, be honest and open with clients and where necessary refer clients to another practitioner.
  • We will respect the privacy policy and Data Protection Act and shall not disclose any personal written data regarding clients or their dog without the client’s written permission.
  • We will be aware that the client has contacted a professional and always conduct our behaviour with sympathy and tact.
  • We will respect the views and independence of other behaviour practitioners, trainers, and professional canine businesses, and shall not decry their methods, conduct or opinions unless these are considered as abuse.
  • We will maintain professional relationships with our clients and not exploit for any personal, professional, or financial gain, nor impose our own values on clients.
  • We will always, conduct any work with considering the health and safety of all concerned and the welfare of their dog. We will consider the health and safety to the public and have insurance policies required by our provided service.
  • This code of conduct is a living document and will be updated and developed in accordance with our individual service standards.
